FEMALES FIGHT FOR FEMINISM

Is there a specific reason to why women are treated differently than men are? Feminism in the belief of the movement to political, social, and economic equality for women. I feel that feminism today revolves around about five main topics: rape, abortion, child care/family leave, poverty, and equal pay. Overall women will never fully have respect and that is one of the main problems. No matter what a woman does in a work force she will be harassed about it and if she does something else it will just be mocked and criticized. Although some will argue that feminism is just a movement towards the hatred of men, it is not, for it is the movement for women to gain the respect they deserve.
The example of men trying to use their power towards women in a negative way is shown through rape. In this article, it states that men argue that rape is not a sex crime, but a crime of violence and power. This, however, is not correct. Rape can change a women’s life, for most women who are raped suffer through mental social and mental change. Rape also brings up another controversial issue towards women,
abortion.
Feminism groups today focus on the right to an abortion. They feel it is important for a female to have the right to do as they please with their own baby, especially if the pregnancy is caused by rape. These “feminists groups” also believe that a woman should have rights to childcare thats affordable. This also leads up to the idea that businesses should provide flexible hours for a woman with a child. The poverty issues deals with welfare and the issue that single mothers usually have money problems. It is statistically proven that a woman is more likely to raise a child alone, rather than men. Feminists groups also have faith in this movement to help women obtain equal pay in the work force, for most business' don’t put women in high authority positions. Feminism today is definitely revolved around the every day/monthly issues a woman has to deal with, including personal problems.
How do you know that what is not appropriate is actually appropriate and what is appropriate is not actually inappropriate? You don’t. All you know is what you hear around the world today, and what the economy is based on. Going with the economy and the idea that doing drugs and having sex at a young age is inappropriate, then there is a huge amount of inappropriate role models being exposed to the public.
       Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and
Jamie-Lynn Spears are perfect examples of inappropriate role models. First of all Lindsay Lohan has been to rehab multiple times, Jamie-Lynn Spears is already pregnant and only 16, and Paris Hilton has set an example to cause many high school girls to act and dress a certain way. Vanessa Hudges also was caught with naked pictures of herself. Considering that she was a Disney chanel star, it isn’t very appropriate at all. All this might not be such a horrible thing if it didn’t lead to some of the angles of feminism previously listed. These role models, who are cherished through out the teenage world are in fact corrupting the teenage mind.
Although there are inappropriate role models in the world, there are a few appropriate ones. One of them is Disney Chanel’s favorite, Miley Cyrus. She has set a role model for young kids. Her motto remains to stay pure until marriage and Miley is one of the first stars to not get sucked into the pressure of drinking and doing drugs. Even though she is famous she hasn’t taken advantage of it to do inappropriate things. Hillary Clinton can also be an acceptable role model because she has stuck with her main ideas and is now the
first woman to run for president. This attitude is necessary in a role model, to be able to put your mind to something and do it, no matter what the outcome will be or what people will say. I think that in Shakespeare’s time, Lady Macbeth would have been considered an appropriate role model in some ways.
Lady Macbeth was a good role model because she was powerful, but the bad thing was that she was manipulative. She manipulated MacBeth to kill Duncan and for that she is a not a suitable candidate for a role model. She is always the head behind the evil plans and event though she claims its for the best that her husband commits these crimes, she wouldn’t do it her self. In conclusion she is not an acceptable leader for feminism. Lady Macbeth convinces her husband to kill a man, who may very well have had a wife. If that is so, his wife is now left a single woman and facing the problems that women would.
